  • Make believe that the lessons do not exist. Make your own lesson plan based on a Real English video.

Forum discussion:

  • What's "real"? Why emphasize the importance of realia? Isn't the wide range of accents confusing for beginners? What about the fast delivery of speech? Why make everything more difficult for beginners and intermediate students? What's the point? Don't students need rather slow, controlled examples of speech in order to learn?

Branka Marceta:

I am currently holding the position of a Coordinator of Technology projects at OTAN, Outreach and Technical Assistance Network. I presented at national, state, and regional conferences including TESOL and CATESOL. I came to OTAN from Milpitas Adult School in the South San Francisco Bay area, where I taught ESL and Office Occupations both at the adult school program and in the local correctional facility. I earned my Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology from San Jose State University. Before Milpitas, I had taught ESL/EFL in Toronto, Canada and Novi Sad, Serbia, to learners from all over the world, ages 5-75, from a variety of backgrounds and in a variety in learning environments: one-on-one tutoring, government-funded programs, and intensive English programs to name a few. I am active in the technology interest section of CATESOL (TELL-IG) as the group’s Web master and Electronic Village organizer, presenter and participant. I am looking forward to our EVO session and sharing with and learning from all the ESL/EFL colleagues and fellow English language learners from all over the world.
