Call for Proposals

Electronic Village Online (EVO) 2019

Deadline for proposals: September 25, 2018

The Electronic Village Online

For five weeks in January-February, participants and ESOL experts engage in collaborative, online discussions or hands-on virtual workshops of professional and scholarly benefit. These five-week sessions allow a fuller development of ideas than is possible in convention sessions.

Co-moderation with several other people is strongly recommended. Session leaders (moderators) need not have previous experience in online teaching. Hands-on training in online discussion management and the use of live virtual chat and audio rooms will take place during our moderators' training session October 21 - November 18, 2018

EVO sessions are sponsored by a TESOL Interest Section or affiliate, an IATEFL Special Interest Group, or other groups or affiliates. Sponsors provide no financial support. If you do not have a sponsor, the Coordination Team can help you find one or more.

For further information, please read: What is EVO and the Mission of EVO.

Becoming an EVO moderator

Individuals may propose a session, but we strongly recommend a team of several moderators for each session. At least one moderator should be a TESOL or IATEFL member or member of an affiliate association. Sessions may be on any topic in ESL/EFL (not necessarily about technology) and are free and open to all interested parties. We especially encourage proposals for hands-on workshop sessions involving materials development (whether online or on land) or the exploration of web-based tools or software. The session may follow up on topics from a previous convention or invite pre-discussion of issues or topics in an upcoming convention. To view descriptions of earlier sessions, including last year's, please see  EVO Previous Sessions.

How to submit an EVO  proposal:

  1. Fill out and submit this Google Form (to be sure we are not accepting spammers)
